Προέρχεται από την κινηματογραφική ταινία "Μια πρόβα στα γρήγορα", με πρωταγωνιστές τον ακορντεονίστα Βασίλη Φομέν [Basil Fomeen] και τον Τέτο Δημητριάδη. Ο Αργύρης Τσιάπος στο βιβλίο του "Οι πρώτες ταινίες του ελληνικού κινηματογράφου" (Σέρρες, Δεκέμβριος 2015) αναφέρει: "Η δεύτερη φωνητική ταινία, που και στις ΗΠΑ και στην Ελλάδα προβλήθηκε μαζί με τη «Η γροθιά του σακάτη», ήταν το «Μια πρόβα στα γρήγορα», κόπια της οποίας φέρεται να σώζεται στο αρχείο του Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival. Σύμφωνα με τον κατάλογο του Jacob's Pillow, στην εισαγωγική καρτέλα αναγράφεται στα ελληνικά: «Η Orthophonic Picture Corporation της Νέας Υόρκης παρουσιάζει τον Τέτο Δημητριάδη στο πρώτο ελληνικό φωνο-κινηματογραφικό κωμικό σκετς, Μια Πρόβα Στα Γρήγορα». Στη σύντομη διάρκεια της ταινίας ακούγεται ένα φοξ τροτ ως μουσικό χαλί κατά παραγγελία, ενώ ο Τέτος Δημητριάδης ερμηνεύει δύο τραγουδάκια και.... η ταινία κλείνει με την ατάκα του Τέτου: «Ωραία! Ωραία! Έφτιαξες μια μεγάλη επιτυχία. Πάμε». Τη μουσική συνέθεσαν ο Ι. Σκίζας και ο Βασίλης Φομέν [Basil Fomeen ;], ενώ τους στίχους έγραψαν από κοινού ο Όκαρ (εννοείται προφανώς ο Ορφέας Καραβίας) και ο Δημητριάδης. Το φιλμάκι αυτό θα προβαλλόταν αρκετές φορές σε κινηματογράφους της Αλεξάνδρειας συνοδεύοντας διάφορες ελληνικές ταινίες τα επόμενα χρόνια (π.χ. την ηχητική έκδοση του «Έρως και κύματα» το Νοέμβριο του 1936)". Η παρτιτούρα του τραγουδιού εκδόθηκε στη Νέα Υόρκη από την Εκδοτική Εταιρεία "Η Σύγχρονος" (Synchronic Publishing Company).

The song comes from the movie "Mia prova sta grigora" ("A quick rehearsal") starring accordionist Basil Fomeen and Tetos Dimitriadis. Argyris Tsiapos, in his book "Oi protes tainies tou ellinikou kinimatografou" (Serres, December, 2015), states the following: "The second 'talkie', which was screened in both the US and Greece along with the movie 'Grothia tou sakati' ('Fist of a Cripple'), was 'Mia prova sta grigora' ('A quick rehearsal') , a copy of which is said to be preserved in the archives of the Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival. According to Jacob's Pillow catalog, the introductory card states the following in Greek: 'The Orthophonic Picture Corporation of New York presents Tetos Dimitriadis in the first Greek speaking-cinematic comedy sketch, Mia prova sta grigora'. During the film (which is short in length), a fox trot can be heard as the background music; Tetos Dimitriadis sings two songs and... the film closes with Tetos' line: "Nice! Nice! You made a big hit. Let’s go." The music was composed by I. Skizas and Basil Fomeen, and the lyrics were written jointly by Okar (obviously meaning Orfeas Karavias) and Dimitriadis. This short film was screened several times in cinemas in Alexandria, accompanying various Greek films in the following years (e.g. the audio version of 'Eros kai kymata' ['Love and waves'] in November 1936)."
